Reducing Company Paper Usage: Our Commitment to Concrete Sustainability
Reducing company paper usage has become a strategic priority for BMP. In recent years, we have taken significant steps to decrease the amount of paper used daily in our processes. While the goal of becoming a completely paperfree company is still far off, becoming a Paperless Company is getting closer every day.
A key step was the introduction of an integrated management system, which eliminated the need to print internal documents, orders, and reports. However, paper is still present, and for this reason, since 2007, we decided to replace regular paper with recycled paper.
The Benefits of Recycled Paper
Producing one ton of virgin paper requires 15 trees to be cut down and about 400,000 liters of water. Recycled paper, on the other hand, is made from waste paper without tree cutting, and its water consumption is 220 times lower. Additionally, residues from the production process are reused in construction, contributing to a true circular economy.
At BMP, this choice has allowed us to achieve measurable results: 55 trees saved and over 1.5 million liters of water conserved in recent years.
Towards a Paperless Future
Today, we are reducing paper usage in other areas as well: internal communications, technical and administrative documentation. By 2026, we aim for a 70% reduction in paper used compared to pre-digitalization levels.
This is just one of the many actions taken to reduce our environmental impact: also discover our journey towards company electric mobility.
According to ISPRA – the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, recycled paper enables significant energy and water savings compared to traditional paper.
