An historic tape, reborn

BMP’s offer of sustainable products could not miss the tesa® 4965 Original Next Gen double-sided tape — the new version of tesa® 4965, a “historic” tape that has earned the trust of our customers over the last 40 years. Today, it returns with the same performance as always, but in an environmentally friendly version.

What remains unchanged?

  • The chemical composition of the adhesive

  • The technical parameters

  • The performance of the tape (versatility, resistance, and safety as always!)

What changes?

  • The modified acrylic adhesive becomes a 100% biomass-balanced monomer-based modified acrylic

  • The virgin PET support becomes 90% post-consumer recycled PET

Same performance, less impact

Extensive tests demonstrate that the new tesa® 4965 Original Next Gen tape guarantees the same level of performance as its predecessor in applications across multiple industries.

You can now count on a carbon footprint reduction of 40%, based on data from a verified study and compliant with ISO 14067 standards.

This is thanks to the new production process, which ensures 40% fewer carbon emissions. The tape is entirely made at the Hamburg plant, ISCC PLUS certified, which has long been committed to reducing fossil-based components in adhesive production.

A closer look at carbon content

62% Total Biocarbon Content

“Bio-based carbon” refers to the percentage of carbon in a material that comes from biological sources. A higher percentage indicates a lower carbon footprint.

“Bio-attributed carbon” indicates the share of carbon from renewable raw materials, measured using the mass balance approach, which tracks materials from raw input to finished product.

Composition of tesa® 4965 Original Next Gen

  • 20% bio-based carbon: Helps reduce CO2 emissions and fossil resource use, relying on renewable raw materials.

  • 42% bio-attributed carbon: Reduces fossil-based inputs and CO2 emissions while preserving product quality and properties.

Thanks to bio-attributed carbon, there is no need to change formulations, production sites, or processes. This not only preserves quality but also offers cost advantages.
